5066 · 9'10" x 13'5" Persian Kashan Oversized Rug

Navy pendants point above and below the lozenge medallion of this lovely deep red rug. Pretty palmettes, blossoms and curling vines worked in blue and cream cover the deep red field, which forms a stepped oval around a navy lozenge medallion. The medallion has a cream center with a blue rosette, and navy pendants point above and below. Cream corner pieces with blue arabesques sit against the navy at every corner. The beautiful main border runs on a near-black dark brown ground and winds cream and red vines through palmettes and rosettes. A blue guard band and cream stripes of small flowers frame it. A few patches of the red field have worn a little lower. It holds a large room together: the dark border frames the red, while the cream lifts the pattern. At 9'10" by 13'5", it fits a dining table for six with the chairs pulled out, or a full living room seating group.
