5071 · 9'2" x 12'10" Persian Birjand Oversized Rug

Near-black petal rings give the large round medallion a charming depth. The field is burgundy, warming to red where the pile is fuller, packed with small flowers and fine vines in rust, cream and blue. A large round medallion rises from the center, its near-black petal rings stepping down through rust and cream to a blue rosette, a flower seen from above. Gorgeous cream corner pieces with flowering branches sit in the field’s corners. The blue-black main border carries lovely round flower heads in red and cream, with a wide rust band inside it between narrow red guard stripes. A small inscribed cartouche is woven into the border. Across the lower field the pile is worn low in broad patches, and the pale foundation shows where the burgundy fades. It brings a deep, settled warmth to a room; the rust band glows against the burgundy. At 9'2" by 12'10", it fits a dining table for six with the chairs pulled out, or a full living room seating group.

Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
