5590 · 9' x 12'10" Persian Dorokhsh Oversized Rug

The cream starburst in the large round medallion is the place to start describing this charming rug. The burgundy field is crowded with small flower heads and curling leaves in steel blue, red and pink, with cream crescents. A large round medallion fills the center, a cream starburst around a pink and red rosette, ringed in near-black and navy, with pointed pendants above and below. A splendid cream spandrel fills each corner, holding red leaves and small flowers. Between two rust red bands of small flowers sits a handsome near-black main border set with red flower heads and blue and green blossoms. Narrow navy stripes of small red flowers edge the inner and outer sides. Wear is heaviest toward the top of the field, where patches of pile have worn thin, and the foundation shows in the border too. In a large room, the cream corners brighten the burgundy center. At 9' by 12'10", it fits a dining table for six with the chairs pulled out, or a full living room seating group.

Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
