5248 · 2'1" x 3'10" Persian Zanjan Accent Rug

This lovely rug has two large hexagonal medallions stacked vertically. Over a deep red field, two large hexagonal medallions are stacked vertically, each holding a geometric cross in cream, rust and dark blue. Small brown rosettes float in the open red space between these central figures. Splendid geometric corner pieces in dark brown and dark blue fill the four ends of the layout. A handsome dark brown main border carries a repeating zigzag pattern in cream and charcoal. Slim guard stripes edge the field on all sides, each with a row of small motifs. A few patches of pile have thinned across the red ground, where the weave shows through slightly. It grounds a narrow space, and the dark brown border contains the red center. At 2'1" by 3'10", it fits an entry, a hallway corner or the space beside a bed.

Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
