5585 · 9'10" x 13' Persian Mashhad Oversized Rug

The dark plum medallion with its tan and rust core is the place to start describing this charming rug. Small vines, leaf sprays and flower heads fill the deep red field in a close scrolling repeat. At the center sits a handsome dark plum medallion with a tan and rust core, shaped as a lobed diamond with narrow pendants above and below. Gorgeous dark plum spandrels in the four corners carry rust and cream palmettes. The wide main border has a dark plum ground with a scroll of pink, cream and pale blue palmettes. Narrow cream and red guard stripes run on either side of this band. The pile is low across the upper center of the field, where pale patches show, and thin white specks dot the rest of the field and the medallion. The dark plum border frames the red field in a large room. At 9'10" by 13', it fits a dining table for six with the chairs pulled out, or a full living room seating group.

Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
