5663 · 3'1" x 9'6" Persian Saveh Runner Rug

Two hexagon medallions with near-black cores sit one above the other on this wonderful rug. Worked on a burgundy field, tall side panels of small diamonds run beside two large central shapes. Two handsome hexagon medallions with near-black cores hold cream comb-like forms, set one above the other down the center. Cream spandrels at the ends carry small birds and brown branches against the light ground. Brown sawtooth edges outline the pointed ends of the field. Small rosettes and ochre meander lines mark the spaces between the medallions. The pile is full along the length. It anchors a long, narrow space, the cream ends lifting the burgundy center. At 3'1" by 9'6", it fits a hallway or the space along the side of a bed.
