Three diamond medallions in cream and rust run down the center of this amazing rug. Worked on a navy field, a column of three diamond medallions in cream and rust runs down the center. Each medallion holds small geometric eyes and connects to the next by vertical striped bands. Splendid cream triangular forms point inward from the sides, filled with small red and blue motifs. Cream and terracotta make up the border, carrying small red and navy shapes. The pile is full on the navy ground, keeping the sharp lines clear. It suits a tight spot where the deep blue and bright rust can hold their own. At 1'10" by 2'9", it fits an entry, a hallway corner or the space beside a bed.

About Torkaman rugs
A Turkmen girl was already an experienced weaver by the time she was old enough to marry, often shortly before she turned twenty. For a wedding Turkmen women wove tasseled trappings for the camel that carried the bride from her father’s tent to that of her new husband. In northeastern Persia, Turkmen weavers keep to a strict grid of gul motifs, the same octagonal figure repeated across the field with almost no variation. The drawing never changes, so all the life is in the color. This rug keeps that strict repetition in its column of diamond forms and the bold contrast of cream against the navy ground. The navy field gives the piece a cool depth, letting the rust and cream details stand out clearly within the tight geometric frame.

Shipping is free and fully insured in the US and Canada. To the UK, the European Union, Australia and New Zealand we ship fully insured, with rates calculated at checkout. Orders are processed and shipped within one to four days and most arrive within about ten days, sometimes as fast as three depending on your location, carefully wrapped, with tracking sent the moment your rug leaves us.

Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
