An all-over lattice of small rosettes and curling vines repeats across this lovely rug. Over a muted pink field, a beautiful all-over lattice of small rosettes, curling vines and leaf forms in darker rose repeats without a central medallion. Nothing frames the lattice, which carries on to the very edge. An antique wash softened the field while the lattice stays readable. Here and there the surface has thinned, and the weave shows through. Floral sprays and small blossoms fill the spaces between rosettes. The rose tones in this piece hold a gentle, even presence. At 4'8" by 8'4", it fits a bedroom beside the bed, a study under a desk, or a small sitting area.
Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
About Isparta rugs
The carpets of Isparta, known as “Isparta quality,” were famous in the early years of the Turkish Republic. The largest carpet exchange in Turkey in its day was the Isparta Carpet Palace. Isparta sits in the lake country of southwestern Turkey, and its workshops wove Persian-influenced floral designs in a distinctly Turkish palette. That palette is chalkier, with more cream and rose than deep madder red. This rug carries an orderly repeat of rosettes and vines across the whole face. Because the pink ground and darker rose drawing share similar values, the pattern stays distinct yet restrained.

Returns & exchangesMade entirely by hand.
Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
