A lobed medallion with a blue rosette core marks the middle of this charming rug. Muted pink covers the field, where graceful curling vines and small cream blossoms in gray brown are scattered. A beautiful central lobed medallion holds a blue rosette core, ringed by scrolling leaves and pendants at the top and bottom. Large cream and blue spirals curl into the four corners against the pink ground. The main border runs blue, set with a chain of cream palmettes and vine loops, with a tan band inside it. The pile is low in places across the field, and a light antique wash has eased the colors and left the drawing clear. The soft rose and steel blue notes blend into one plane. At 5'2" by 8'11", it fits a bedroom beside the bed, a study under a desk, or a small sitting area.

About Isparta rugs
Since 1850 carpet weaving in Isparta has passed through many stages, and it was the Oriental Carpet Company that first carried its carpets overseas. Isparta lies in the lake country of southwestern Turkey, where workshops through the twentieth century wove Persian-influenced floral designs in a distinctly Turkish palette. The palette is chalkier and softer, with more cream and rose than the deep madder of Persia. These are town rugs, not tribal ones, so the drawing is orderly and the field tends to read calm from across a room. This rug has the settled look of a workshop piece. The washed pink ground with soft blue touches steps away from the dark reds of the area.

Orders are processed and shipped within one to four days and most arrive within about ten days, sometimes as fast as three depending on your location, carefully wrapped, with tracking sent the moment your rug leaves us.

Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
