A lobed blue medallion with a cream core stands out on this lovely rug. Across a muted pink field, graceful scattered floral sprays in blue and brown surround a central medallion. This beautiful lobed blue medallion holds a cream core, with small pendants extending from the top and bottom points. Pale cream pieces fill each corner, crowded with curling vines and small blossoms. A gray beige border frames it, set with a continuous scroll of blue and brown motifs. The colors have eased under a light antique wash, and the drawing stays clear. A few spots in the pile have worn low. In a bright room, the pink and blue stay muted. At 5'7" by 9'10", it fits a bedroom beside the bed, a study under a desk, or a small sitting area.
Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
About Isparta rugs
In 1943 the Isparta carpet factory passed to the state-owned Sumerbank, which backed carpet making by hand there with new technology. It kept working until 2008. Isparta sits in the lake country of southwestern Turkey, a town where Persian-influenced floral designs were woven in a Turkish palette. Cream and rose run through its rugs more than deep madder. The blue accents and brown outlines stay soft within the pink field.

Shipping is free and fully insured in the US and Canada. To the UK, the European Union, Australia and New Zealand we ship fully insured, with rates calculated at checkout. Orders are processed and shipped within one to four days and most arrive within about ten days, sometimes as fast as three depending on your location, carefully wrapped, with tracking sent the moment your rug leaves us.

Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
