This charming rug has a central oval medallion with a pink core. Worked on a muted pink field, the rug holds a splendid central oval medallion with a pink core and small pendants at the top and bottom. A wide ochre border curves inward at the corners and carries graceful cream flowers with touches of slate blue. A narrow cream stripe edges it on the outside. A light antique wash has eased the colors and left the drawing clear. The pile is low in places across the field, where white specks reveal the foundation. The open field lets the pink and ochre blend into a warm pairing. At 5'5" by 8'7", it fits a bedroom beside the bed, a study under a desk, or a small sitting area.

It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
About Isparta rugs
In the first half of 1911 the busiest agent of the Oriental Carpet Manufacturers was in Isparta, where a single agency had about 25,294 square meters woven in homes. Under the name “Isparta quality” the carpets of Isparta were famous in the early years of the Turkish Republic. The workshops of Isparta, in the lake country of southwestern Turkey, spent the twentieth century weaving Persian-influenced floral designs in a distinctly Turkish palette. As town rugs rather than tribal ones, they keep an orderly drawing and present a composed field. This rug keeps that orderly drawing in its oval medallion and curving border. The muted pink field and ochre border give it a soft tone.

Orders are processed and shipped within one to four days and most arrive within about ten days, sometimes as fast as three depending on your location, carefully wrapped, with tracking sent the moment your rug leaves us.

Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
