1956 · 9'9" x 12'11" Persian Tabriz Oversized Rug

This violet blue field carries a lovely allover pattern. An allover pattern repeats across a violet blue field: pretty rosettes in olive and brick red, cream palmettes and small pink and sky-blue blossoms. Feathery leaf sprigs and tan fret motifs tie it all together. There is no medallion and no corner piece; the drawing simply runs from edge to edge. A vivid red main border, set with cream diamonds and green-gray key meanders, sits between cream guard bands of tiny flowers and a thin line of red and blue triangles. The field pile is worn low in patches, which pales the violet where it is thinnest, while the border stays crisp. Violet against that red pairs well with warm brass, olive or deep green walls, and plain oak floors. At 9'9" by 12'11", it fits a dining table for six with the chairs pulled out, or a full living room seating group.
