A beautiful blue border holds a row of small figures along the bottom and geometric motifs down the sides. No medallion sits at the center, and a narrow red stripe edges it. Full pile covers the field and each border band. It gives plain floors a bold portrait to rest on. At 2'4" by 2', it fits an entry, a hallway corner or the space beside a bed.
Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
About Sirjan rugs
Sirjan lies in Kerman province in southeastern Persia, on the edge of tribal country. Kerman weaving went quiet for a long stretch, then revived toward the end of the 19th century and became one of the great carpet industries of Persia. The Afshar tribe came to the Kerman area in the 16th century, and its weavers made both village and nomadic rugs. Formats tend to be small to middling. This piece is small, and the weaver chose a portrait over geometry. The pink field and blue border make a sharp contrast.

Shipping is free and fully insured in the US and Canada. To the UK, the European Union, Australia and New Zealand we ship fully insured, with rates calculated at checkout. Orders are processed and shipped within one to four days and most arrive within about ten days, sometimes as fast as three depending on your location, carefully wrapped, with tracking sent the moment your rug leaves us.

Every knot in this rug was tied by hand, one at a time, on an upright loom. A piece like this is the work of two or three weavers sitting side by side for months, wool worked row by row into a pattern carried from memory, its colors softened by decades of light and use. Nothing about it was quick, and no two are ever the same.
The kind of thing that only gets better with age, and quietly passes from one home to the next.
