The field of this wonderful rug holds a blue diamond above a teal stepped cross. At the center, two gorgeous geometric medallions sit on a burgundy field scattered with small ochre and cream motifs. The upper shape is a blue diamond with hooked edges, while the lower one forms a stepped cross in teal outlined in cream. No corner spandrels break the red ground, which stays open around the central figures. A narrow red border frames the piece, carrying small geometric marks in blue, white and gold, with a dark brown edge along the sides. Thin dotted cream stripes separate this edge from the field. The pile is full across the face. It grounds a small space, letting the burgundy and cool blue shapes hold their own. At 1'10" by 2'2", it fits an entry, a hallway corner or the space beside a bed.
