4430 · 6'9" x 9'9" Persian Ghoochan Area Rug

Small cream key-pattern lines form a diagonal lattice on this remarkable rug. Cut into diamonds of one size by a beautiful diagonal lattice of small cream key-pattern lines, the deep burgundy red field holds a black-outlined red cross figure in each one. Some of the diamonds are filled with blue or dark green instead. A wide band of red and black sawtooth triangles forms the border, turning at each corner, with small blue, green and cream points. Tiny cream and black pennants make up the guard stripes on both flanks. The pile is full across the field and the borders. Dense drawing keeps the burgundy lively, while blue and green diamonds offer a subtle contrast. At 6'9" by 9'9", it fits a living room with the front legs of the sofa and chairs on the rug, or beside a queen bed.
