1401 · 6'9" x 9'8" Persian Lilihan Area Rug

Turquoise flower heads step along the center line of this charming rug. On a gray brown field, an allover floral repeat fills a faded octagonal medallion whose cut corners can be traced, with pretty floral sprays outside them. Small lozenges holding turquoise flower heads step along the center line. The handsome sand main border carries sprays of palmettes and leaves in tan, with turquoise rosettes at the corners. Narrow guard stripes beside it show tan hearts and a blue wavy vine. A full antique wash has left no color at strength, so the drawing has turned to a faint texture. A band of dark brown flecks crosses both side borders around the middle, where the pile has worn low. The low washed pile keeps the gray brown and sand understated underfoot, with the turquoise as one cool note. At 6'9" by 9'8", it fits a living room with the front legs of the sofa and chairs on the rug, or beside a queen bed.

Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
