4449 · 7'1" x 10'4" Persian Birjand Area Rug

In this charming rug, a starburst of near-black points surrounds a red disc with a blue heart. The dusty rose field carries a dense herati lattice of small fish and leaf forms, worked in cream, rust and blue. At the center sits a large round medallion, a red disc with a blue heart, surrounded by a starburst of near-black points, with a pendant above and below. Small red leaf-shaped pieces mark the field corners. The splendid main border is deep red, set with lovely cream and brown leaf scrolls and small diamond medallions. Guard stripes in near-black, brown with blue and pink blossoms, and cream line both edges. A few patches along the top border have worn low, with pale marks near the upper left corner. It grounds a seating area, with the lattice calming the red border. At 7'1" by 10'4", it fits a dining table for four with the chairs pulled out, or a living room with the sofa and chairs fully on it.
