A lovely gold guard band of flower heads and boteh runs just inside the navy border. A broad deep red field opens around a gorgeous stepped navy medallion filled with rows of boteh, the leaf-drop shape known as paisley. Navy pendants edged in gray blue and cream rise above and below it. Handsome stepped navy corner pieces repeat the boteh rows, with pale cream at their outer tips. The border is navy and holds red-outlined cells with paired teardrop figures and flowers, and a gold guard band of flower heads and boteh runs just inside it. The open field has worn low across its whole width, with pale streaks of foundation showing, while the border and the dark figures keep their pile. It holds a room with its strong red, while the navy and gold stop that color looking flat. At 6'8" by 9'7", it fits a living room with the front legs of the sofa and chairs on the rug, or beside a queen bed.
