5355 · 7'10" x 11'1" Persian Heriz Oversized Rug

A lovely pale leaf sits at the core of the large stepped medallion in dark brown. The deep red field is built around a large stepped medallion in dark brown, outlined in olive and gray blue, with a pale leaf at its core. Splendid ivory corner spandrels carry hooked red and gray motifs, with a slanted gray cartouche leaning into each, and a small bird is worked into the red beside one corner. A beautiful dark brown main border runs olive and red angular devices around gray blue cartouches edged in ivory, between narrow red guard stripes. Use has taken the pile low through much of the red, with foundation flecks in the field and the border, and the colors have softened to earthy tones. It grounds a den, study or farmhouse dining room, where deep red and ivory corners add warmth to a lived-in look. At 7'10" by 11'1", it fits a dining table for six with the chairs pulled out, or a full living room seating group.

Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
