1578 · 4'3" x 9'9" Persian Baluch Area Rug

Branching trees in deep red stand in rows down the near-black field of this charming rug. At the center, branching trees in deep red and small animal figures repeat on a near-black field. There is no single medallion; the trees stand in rows down the length, each rising from a wide rose-red base. Small red and rust diamonds sit between them, with teal touches at the branch tips. The handsome main border is a chain of red and rust diamonds joined by zigzags on a dark brown ground. Thin dotted guard stripes edge the diamond chain, and a band of cream, teal and red triangles runs outside them. The pile is low in places across the field, and the borders keep fuller pile. It brings a deep, settled warmth to a hall, and the near-black field keeps the red steady. At 4'3" by 9'9", it fits a hallway or the space along the side of a bed.
