A dense repeat of near-black and tan boteh sits in diagonal rows on this lovely rug. The deep red field carries a dense repeat of small boteh, the paisley leaf-drop, in near-black and tan, set in diagonal rows. No central medallion interrupts the design, which runs unbroken from end to end. The gorgeous main border is cream, worked with angular red and near-black figures inside stepped panels. Narrow guard stripes in near-black carry small cream and red diamonds, with dotted red lines on either side. The pile is low in places across the field, where a few pale specks show. The dense drawing holds the red and near-black in a tight rhythm down the length. At 3'5" by 10'6", it fits a hallway or the space along the side of a bed.
