1534 · 3'7" x 15'1" Persian Kashan Runner Rug

Rosettes are strung down the middle of this lovely runner in place of a medallion. The field runs a deep red, crowded with graceful scrolling arabesques, palmettes and flower heads. Larger rosettes, flowers seen from above, are strung down the middle in place of a medallion. Cream carries most of the pattern, and small teal leaves fill the gaps. The sage main border runs a scroll of cream palmettes and blossoms, closed on the inside by a narrow guard stripe of dark vine. The pile is worn thin along the whole length of the rug, and the bare weave shows in places. One end is the most worn, and there the red has gone pale. The sage border cools the long red line this runner forms down a hall. At 3'7" by 15'1", it fits a hallway or the space along the side of a bed.
