4302 · 3'9" x 10'10" Persian Ardabil Runner Rug

This remarkable runner repeats three large cruciform elements down the center. Large red cross-shaped figures outlined in cream stand on the dark navy field, arranged in a vertical column down the length. No single medallion leads the design; three large cruciform elements repeat down the center instead, each holding a small star core. No corner spandrels interrupt the column, which runs the full length. A wide main border in camel carries large stepped rosettes in red and gray blue. Narrow guard stripes with small geometric repeats in red and cream run beside it. The pile is full in the field and the borders. The dark blue holds the bright red in place along this long passage. At 3'9" by 10'10", it fits a hallway or the space along the side of a bed.

Every rug we sell is one of a kind, and this is the only one like it. It is hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, professionally washed and cleaned before it reaches you, and shipped folded and fully insured. Age-related wear and the small inconsistencies of a handmade weave are part of what these rugs are.
