2x2 Vintage Rugs

Vintage Persian rugs measuring roughly 2x2 feet. Square accent rugs, useful in front of a sink or a door.

Every one in this size is Persian, and Hamedan and Shiraz are the names you will see most often. About half have a deep red field, and these squares are among the least expensive rugs we sell.

These little squares are one of a kind: each was hand-knotted about fifty years ago and cleaned by professional rug washers we have worked with for years before listing. Handwork means a 2x2 is seldom a perfect square, so read the width and length on the rug’s page, in feet and inches with centimeters alongside.

US and Canadian orders ship free with insurance included, and a return is possible within seven days (fourteen days for buyers in the European Union).

Where a 2x2 rug works

A 2x2 is the smallest piece we carry: a mat for a doorstep, the floor in front of a bathroom sink, or a spot of pattern under a side table or plant stand. A rug this small can also hang on a wall or dress a bench or chest.

Also in these rooms

Look for this size in our hallway and entry rugs and kids room rugs as well.

The next size up

Nothing we sell is smaller, so the only step is up, to the 2x3 rugs. Every small piece is gathered under mini and accent rugs, and the size guide sets out standard measurements for each room.

Who made them

Every 2x2 rug here is Persian, and the names that come up most often are Hamedan, Shiraz and Torkaman. To compare the three, start with the Hamedan guide, then the Shiraz guide and the Torkaman guide.

Before you place it

A square this light can shift underfoot on a bathroom floor; a thin pad holds it still, and our rug pad guide explains which kind suits which floor. Your 2x2 travels free and insured to the US and Canada, as set out on shipping and returns.
