5x9 Vintage Rugs
Vintage Persian and Turkish rugs measuring roughly 5x9 feet. A generous area rug for a living room or a bedroom.
Almost all of the 5x9 rugs are Turkish, from Isparta and Manisa, and cream fields outnumber every other color by a wide margin. Most are priced at the gentler end of our range.
Each one is a single, unrepeatable piece, hand-knotted in the 1970s and professionally cleaned before listing. A 5x9 label is a close approximation rather than a promise, so the rug’s page carries its measured size in feet and inches with the centimeter figure beside it.
We send rugs free and fully insured to the US and Canada, and a return window of seven days applies (fourteen days in the European Union).
Where a 5x9 rug works
A 5x9 gives a seating group a little more length than a 5x8, which helps with a long sofa. In a bedroom it can lie crosswise under the foot end of a queen bed.

This size also turns up in our living room rugs and bedroom rugs. If your seating sits in a bigger shared space, read placing a rug in an open-plan living space.

Since no two of these were woven to quite the same length, check the 5x8 rugs and 5x10 rugs as well. The full family lives under large rugs, with measuring advice in the size guide.
What you will find in this size
Nearly all 5x9 rugs here are Turkish, with Isparta and Manisa well ahead and a few Bakhtiari pieces among them. Start with the Isparta guide, then the Manisa guide, to see how the two weaving centers compare.
Before it arrives
Under a 5x9, a thin pad keeps the rug flat and the edges from curling; see our rug pad guide. Insured shipping to the US and Canada is on us, and shipping and returns sets out the terms.
