3x6 Vintage Rugs

Vintage Persian and Turkish rugs around 3x6 feet: short runners and generous accents.

Almost all of them are Persian, and Baluch rugs make up the largest share, ahead of Hamedan; a few Isparta rugs from Turkey are mixed in. Deep red and burgundy fields are the most common.

Each one is unique, hand-knotted roughly fifty years ago and sent to the specialist washers we have trusted for years before it was listed. A label of 3x6 is an approximation, since hand-knotted rugs vary by a few inches. Every rug’s page shows its real width and length in feet and inches, with centimeters in parentheses.

Delivery is free and insured anywhere in the US and Canada. Returns are open for seven days after delivery (fourteen in the European Union).

Where a 3x6 rug works

Somewhere between a mat and a runner, a 3x6 suits a short hallway, the length of a kitchen counter or the side of a queen bed.

Rooms and runner advice

This size also turns up in our hallway and entry rugs, kitchen rugs and bedroom rugs. To size a runner for a hall or kitchen, see choosing the right runner length.

Next size along

Hand-knotted rugs drift from their nominal size, so anyone shopping for a 3x6 should also look through the 3x7 rugs. The small rugs collection holds the wider range, and the size guide shows which measurements suit which rooms.

Baluch and beyond

Almost all 3x6 rugs here are Persian, and the names that come up most often are Baluch, Hamedan and Zanjan. For the story behind each, open the Baluch guide, the Hamedan guide or the Zanjan guide.

Underfoot and on the way

Runners in kitchens and halls take a lot of foot traffic, and a thin pad stops them creeping along the floor; our rug pad guide sorts out the options. Shipping costs nothing in the US and Canada and comes with insurance; shipping and returns has the specifics.
